Aston Dane hosted a conference under the SIPI61508 banner entitled "Workshop on Safety in the Process industry" on 9th April 2003 in Dublin.

SIPI61508, a new European collaborative project enabling the process industry to Profit through Safe Systems. The objective of this project is to provide the EU Process and Allied industries with a set of Guiding Principles for the achievement of safe industrial processes through a unified approach to the implementation of IEC-61508.  These Guiding Principles will accelerate the understanding and facilitate uniform interpretation and implementation of the international functional safety standard 61508, which has IEC basic safety publication status.

Aston Dane is one of three organisations who will jointly organise and facilitate 12 intensive workshops to be held in 12 different EU countries during the next 2 years; the other companies involved are ABB (formally Eutech) and Hima (Germany).
