Aston Dane is working with the European community to promote Safety in the Process Industries.

We are one of three organistations, ABB of Switzerland, Hima of Germany and Aston Dane in the UK, jointly organising and facilitating 12 intensive workshops across the 12 EU countries during the next 2 years.

The project (designated SIPI 61508) has the following objectives:

• Provide a Europe-wide forum for the exchange of views and best practice related to the implementation of IEC-61508
• A secondary objective will be to raise awareness of the standard and its issues, both positive and negative, in a Europe wide forum

• A third objective will be to encourage the provision of other material outside the workshop environment, which will help to map the status of the standard in each European country and identify problems encountered and novel solutions developed by organisations who have implemented the standard
• The final objective will be to produce a set of Guidelines aimed at unifying and standardising the implementation across Europe and simplifying and facilitating its further adoption
